The Department of Viet Nam Customs signed a Statement of Intent to enhance cooperation with the Australian Border Force

During the visit of Mr. Luu Manh Tuong-Deputy Director General of the Department of Viet Nam Customs to the Australian Border Force (ABF), Viet Nam Customs had a bilateral meeting with the ABF Deputy Commissioner to strengthen cooperation in customs control and management.

During the visit of Mr. Luu Manh Tuong-Deputy Director General of the Department of Viet Nam Customs to the Australian Border Force (ABF), Viet Nam Customs had a bilateral meeting with the ABF Deputy Commissioner to strengthen cooperation in customs control and management. The meeting took place against the background of the deepening relationship between Viet Nam and Australia following the upgrading of the two countries to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, creating a foundation for both sides to continue promoting substantive and effective cooperation.

During the meeting, leaders from both sides exchanged views on past cooperation, particularly in sharing operational information, controlling, preventing smuggling, and implementing the signed cooperation plan for investigations. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in modern customs management, technology application, risk analysis, and improving the efficiency of goods control, meeting the demands of a constantly changing international trade environment. To reaffirm their commitment to close and long-term cooperation, the two sides signed a Statement of Intent to enhance cooperation between the Department of Viet Nam Customs and the Australian Border Force. The signed document outlines future cooperation initiatives, including information sharing, technical assistance, capacity building and coordinated customs control, in line with the development direction of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and Australia.

On the sidelines of the bilateral meeting, Deputy Director General,  Mr. Luu Manh Tuong had working sessions with several key operational units of the ABF, and also visited and worked with several units and professional management models of the ABF, including the K9 training center. These activities contributed to enhancing mutual understanding and promoting priority areas of cooperation such as information sharing, air - postal control, and capacity building.

The visit of Mr. Luu Manh Tuong contributed to strongly consolidating the cooperative relationship between Viet Nam Customs and the ABF; and created an important foundation for the two sides to continue expanding cooperation in modern customs management, control and prevention of smuggling, meeting the demands of the new context and contributing to the sustainable development of bilateral relations.
