Forced to re-export 19 containers of porcine meat bone meal

Summary

Nearly 450 tons of porcine meat bone meal (porcine MBM) which did not satisfy veterinary hygiene requirements and were packaged inside 19 containers, have been forced to re-export by the competent authorities.

Forced to re-export 19 containers of porcine meat bone meal

According to HCM City Customs Department, in June of 2018, Trung Chinh Development and Investment Co, Ltd., (located Tay Ho District – Hanoi) opened 2 customs declarations for importing a shipment that included 19 containers (447,845 kg) of porcine MBM. The shipment arrived at ICD Phuoc Long port and was in the form of State inspection on quality of veterinary hygiene.

The testing result by the Department of Animal Health, showed that all the above shipment of porcine MBM was unsatisfactory for veterinary hygiene requirements (detected cow DNA in the product)

The Department of Animal Health issued a decision to sanction Trung Chinh Development and Investment Co, Ltd., with the amount of fines of 80 million VND. At the same time, all the shipment must be re-exported out of Vietnam territory.
