Procedure for transit scrap is waiting for guidance by the Ministry of Industry and Trade

This problem is arising at Da Nang Customs Department when it receives the request to carry out transit procedures to Laos for the plastic scrap products.

However, Point c, Clause 3 in Directive 27/CT-TTg stipulates that the Prime Minister assigns the Ministry of Industry and Trade to chair and coordinate with units in reviewing, applying or proposing to take measures for suspension of the temporary import for re-export, transit of goods into Vietnam's territory in line with the reality.

Currently, there has not been specific guidance on whether to continue to permit carrying out Customs procedures for transit scrap or not.

Therefore, in order to have a basis for guiding businesses and local Customs departments to synchronously implement, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has proposed the Import-Export Duty Department (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) to respond to whether scraps are permitted to be temporarily imported for re-export and transited through the Vietnam’s territory or not.
