What are procedures for re-verification of imported scraps?

Summary

In order to unify the procedures for re-verification of imported scraps, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has issued an Official letter to instruct provincial and municipal Customs Departments if the enterprise disagrees with the verification results by the Customs authority.

What are procedures for re-verification of imported scraps?

Accordingly, if the enterprise disagrees with the inspection results conducted by the Customs, the Customs declarants shall make complaints or select assessment agencies, organizations for re-verification of goods in accordance with the provisions of the law.

In cases where the Customs declarant selects the assessment organizations to for re-verification of goods, the Border Gate Customs Branch where the goods are stored shall issue an official letter to propose the Customs Department of Goods Verification to cooperate to supervise sampling for re-verification. During the sampling, Customs officers of Border Gate Customs Branch in charge of supervision of sampling shall take photos and record all the sampling process from opening containers (for goods packed in containers) or starting the inspection (for the bulk cargo) until the end of the sampling.

The photos of inspection places and video recordings of the inspection process shall be saved at Border Gate Customs Branch for the examination, complaints and denunciations.

After receiving the re-verification results sent by the enterprise, the Border Gate Customs Branch shall notify these results to the Customs Department of Goods Verification for analysis, evaluation and report on whether or not the Customs Branch agree with the re-verification results for the Customs Department of Goods Verification to have the basis to submit to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
