Agriculture, forestry and fishery exports reached USD 20 billion in the first half of 2019

The export turnover of agricultural product was estimated at USD9.33 billion, decreasing by 8.8%; the export turnover of livestock products was estimated at USD311 million, increasing by 1.8%; the export turnover of fishery products was estimated at nearly USD4 billion, increasing by 0.7 %, export turnover of forestry products was estimated at USD5.27 billion, increasing by 21.2%.

The structure of export sectors and products clarifies the increase in sectors and products which have advantages and markets such as fishery (especially shrimp), vegetables, fruit and high-value industrial plants, wood and special forest products, the decrease in sectors which tend to increase the supply; the increase in high-quality goods in total productivity and export goods.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in the first half of the year, the agricultural industry faced difficulties and challenges such as unstable weather, salinity intrusion in the Mekong Delta, droughtin the Central Highlands and the South Central Coast, reduced prices of agriculture, forestry and fishery products and the outbreak of African swine fever.

However, the industry maintained the growth rate, the production value was estimated at 2.7-2.9% compared to 2018, of which, agriculture products increased by 1.68%; forestry products increased by 4.53% and fishery products increased 6.5%.
