Imported rice, dry tobacco leaves from Cambodia enjoy tax incentives
On June 26, 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Circular 08/2019/TT-BCT regulating the import of dried rice and tobacco leaves originating from the Kingdom of Cambodia under tariff quotas for 2019 and the year. 2020.
The total amount of tariff quotas for 2019 and 2020 for dry rice and tobacco leaves is 3,000 tons of rice per year (the conversion rate to paddy is 2kg of rice = 1kg of rice).
Goods imported under tariff quotas at 24 pairs of Vietnamese and Cambodian border gates as prescribed in the Circular are entitled to special preferential import tax rates according to the Government's regulations if they fully meet the prescribed conditions:
- Imported goods must have a certificate of origin of form S (C / O form S) issued by the Kingdom of Cambodia's Trade Ministry or an authorized agency according to Cambodia's regulations; import customs procedures at the prescribed border gates;
- With dry tobacco leaves, importers must have permits to import raw tobacco according to tariff quotas issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade as prescribed; The amount of imports minus the import quotas shall comply with the permits granted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The Circular takes effect from August 12, 2019 until December 31, 2020.
