Exports from four localities reach US$10 billion

According to General Department of Vietnam Customs (by the end of April 2022), four localities reached an export turnover of US$10 billion or more including Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Ninh, Binh Duong, Thai Nguyen, an increase of one locality compared to the same period in 2021.

The latest locality to achieve this result is Thai Nguyen with US$11.86 billion, increasing by 27.53% over the same period last year.

Regarding the export activities of this locality, according to Thai Nguyen Statistics Office, about 98% of export turnover comes from enterprises with foreign direct investment (FDI).

Export groups of goods increased sharply in the past four months such as: non-ferrous metals and non-ferrous metal concentrates reached US$106.9 million, up 86%; iron and steel products reached US$14.4 million, up 51.3%; garment products reached US$144.6 million, up 17.9%; other electronic products and spare parts reached more than US$7 billion, up 29.9%; tablets reached nearly US$1 billion, up 11.2%...

In the remaining 3 localities, Ho Chi Minh City continues to lead in export turnover with US$16.25 billion, up 6% over the same period last year.

The remaining two positions had the following results: Bac Ninh reached US$14.67 billion, up more than 7%; Binh Duong is US$12.26 billion, up more than 10%.

Regarding the general export situation of the whole country, the latest preliminary statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs recorded that from the beginning of the year to the end of May 15, Vietnam's total export turnover reached nearly US$135.2 billion, up 15.5%, equivalent to an increase of US$18.18 billion over the same period in 2021.

Accordingly, the number of commodity groups increased sharply is included: phones and components increased by US$2.61 billion, equivalent to 13.1%; textile and garments increased by US$2.32 billion, equivalent to 21.4%; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts increased by US$1.76 billion, equivalent to 13.2%; computers, electronic products and components increased by US$1.78 billion, equivalent to an increase of 10%.
