The total number of scanned containers by the Customs sector decreased by 22.9%, the volume of suspicious containers fell by 17.59%, but the volume of violating containers rose by 35.13%.
The reason for the decrease in the number of scanned containers was mainly due to the complicated development of the Covid-19 epidemic in the first quarter of 2022.
In the first half of the year, the Customs authorities strengthened risk analysis and assessment for targeted products and sectors, and issued guiding documents and warn of risks to improve the efficiency of customs control for enterprises.
The Customs also notified many high-risk suspects and goods such as imported consumer goods sent via express delivery service from China with under-value declarations.
In addition, the operational departments under the General Department of Vietnam Customs provided the list of enterprises with high risk signs to the local customs departments and instructed on classification of inspection channels for consignments beyond the deadline for customs clearance.
