The Forum “Next generation trade facilitation for sustainable development” held in Singapore

 

In the opening remarks made by Ms. Low Yen Ling, Minister of State, the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore, she stressed the importance of evolving trade facilitation to enhance the resilience of international supply chains in the times of pandemic and to better support sustainable economic recovery and development in the Asia Pacific region.

In this regard, the Forum included panel discussions, interactive and experience sharing sessions on best practices and different aspects of trade facilitation, including cross-border e-commerce and paperless trade, transit, the application of emerging technologies to ensure that new generation trade facilitation measures are integrated, inclusive and sustainable and enabling the participation of stakeholders in international supply chains including SME, less developed countries.

APTFF is the leading regional platform for the exchange of good practices and knowledge on trade facilitation. This Year Forum attracted over 250 participants from over 30 countries and international organizations including governmental officials, international experts and private sectors.

Invited participants from Viet Nam include representatives from Viet Nam Customs and Ministry of Industry and Trade. At this Forum, the representative from Viet Nam Customs delivered the interaction on trade facilitation measures of Viet Nam during the past time as well as the state of play regarding the operation of the National Committee on Trade Facilitation (NTFC).
