Nine priorities for customs cooperation mentioned in Vietnam-China Joint statement

The “Joint statement on continuing to promote and deepen the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership” was issued as Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong officially visit to China from October 31 - November 1. It mentions the development of priority areas for customs cooperation.

The section 12 of the Joint Statement states the Memorandum of Understanding between the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the Ministry of Finance of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China on development of priority areas for customs cooperation.

According to the International Cooperation Department (under the General Department of Vietnam Customs), the priority contents stated in the Joint Statement are: 

1. Cooperation in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and customs offences.

2. Cooperation in facilitation for cross-border customs procedures.

3. Cooperation in information and data exchange on e-customs.

4. Exchange and cooperation in trade statistics.

5. Cooperation in training and developing human resources.

6. Cooperation on authorized economic operator program.

7. Cooperation on building Digital Customs, Smart Customs.

8. Single Window Cooperation.

9. Cooperation between customs of border provinces.

The International Cooperation Department, to create legal framework for customs cooperation, the two sides agreed to expedite negotiations to sign the "agreement between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the People's Republic of China on customs cooperation and mutual support " in the future.
