Customs Department holds working Session with Cambodian Ministry of Commerce Delegation on experience exchange in Trade Remedies Enforcement

In April 2026, at the headquarters of the Customs Department, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tai – Deputy Director General of the Customs Supervision and Management Sub-Deparment, under the authorization of the Customs Department’s leadership, held a working session with a delegation comprising representatives from various agencies under the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce. The delegation was led by Mr. Long Kemvichet – Director General of the Trade Remedies Department and member of the National Committee on Trade Remedies. The Cambodian Government is currently interested in and seeking to learn from Vietnam’s model for developing and implementing management systems to enhance the effectiveness of national trade remedies enforcement.

During the meeting, the Customs Department shared information with the delegation regarding the functions and roles of customs authorities in implementing trade remedy measures at border areas, thereby facilitating legitimate trade while protecting the national economy.

The Customs Department carries out these responsibilities in compliance with regulations and policies issued by the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and other relevant ministries and agencies. Key instruments applied in the field of trade remedies include: the application and collection of trade remedy duties; the VNACCS/VCIS automated customs clearance and risk management system; classification and determination of HS codes and origin of goods; customs inspection and supervision through document review and physical inspection of goods; post-clearance audit; and inter-agency coordination with the Trade Remedies Authority, police, border guards, market surveillance forces, and other relevant agencies.

The two sides discussed various issues related to the above-mentioned tools and exchanged views on several specific cases of mutual concern to both Vietnam and Cambodia in order to seek appropriate solutions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their hope that strengthening effective cooperation between policy-making and law enforcement agencies would contribute to consolidating the good-neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainable relationship between the two countries.
