On July 9, 2026, at Noi Bai International Airport Customs Checkpoint, the Department of Viet Nam Customs collaborated with the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to hold a professional exchange on the application of software in risk management for passengers and goods entering and exiting the country. This meeting followed up the workshop on “Preventing Air Freight Smuggling” held in May 2026, contributing to the concretization of professional cooperation between the two customs administrations in the fields of risk management, customs modernization, and strengthening law enforcement capacity.

Within the framework of the working program, both sides exchanged views on the exploitation of applications for risk analysis and assessment; shared experiences in building and operating systems to support decision-making and the selection of inspection targets. In particular, CBP representatives directly introduced the application of a data analytics system for risk management and directly demonstrated the US system's operations, illustrating the process of exploiting and analyzing information and supporting the selection of key targets. Through direct observation of the system's operation and direct exchange with CBP experts, customs officers gained access to practical experience, contributing to enhancing the substance and effectiveness of cooperation between the two customs administrations.

The working meeting was assessed as substantive and effective, further affirming the cooperative relationship between the Department of Viet Nam Customs and the US Customs in the field of enhancing risk management capacity and customs modernization. Simultaneously, it promotes the application of technology and modern management methods to improve the efficiency of state management in customs, facilitate import and export activities, and ensure supply chain security.
