From August 10-14 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Viet Nam Customs, in collaboration with the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Program (INL) of the U.S. Department of State organized a maritime domain awareness – seavision training workshop.
Ms. Christina Le – Head of the Political Section, the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, representatives from the Department Office of Viet Nam Customs, experts from the Pacific Naval Information Center and Vietnamese Customs officials were attending the opening of the workshop.
The workshop focused on introducing and guiding participants in using the SeaVision system, thereby helping them enhance their knowledge and skills in monitoring, exploiting, and analyzing maritime information, serving the collection, processing of information, and assessment of risk indicators. In particular, the workshop was considered relevant to the direction of promoting digital transformation, modernizing operational processes, and strengthening the application of technology and data in the state management work of Vietnam Customs. Accessing tools like SeaVision will contribute to supplementing information sources for operational work, especially in risk management, customs supervision and control, and combating smuggling on maritime routes.
Over the years, the Department of Viet Nam Customs and the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Program (INL) of the U.S. Department of State have maintained many practical cooperation activities in training, capacity building, and supporting customs law enforcement. This training workshop further contributes to deepening the cooperative relationship between the two sides, while also creating opportunities for Vietnamese customs officers to exchange experiences with U.S experts, access modern tools and methods to serve customs management and control, and combat illegal activities.
