From November 3–4, 2026, in Seoul, South Korea, a delegation of the Viet Nam Customs, led by Deputy Director General Nguyen Thanh Hung, attended the High-level Global Trade Facilitation Policy Conference 2026 organized by Korea Customs Service (KCS).
This is an annual forum initiated by Korea Customs Service to establish a platform for customs authorities worldwide and international organizations to interact, share practical experiences, and update trends as well as advanced technological solutions in customs management; thereby contributing to trade facilitation, enhancing management effectiveness, and ensuring global supply chain security.

Leaders of customs administrations participating in the Conference
Delivering the opening remarks at the Conference, Mr. Park Heon, Deputy Commissioner of Korea Customs Service, emphasized that the global trade context is developing strongly with widespread waves of digital transformation, accompanied by increasing supply chain uncertainties related to smuggling, illegal transportation of contraband, prohibited goods, and hazardous items... This context poses customs authorities worldwide - the frontline forces facing the transformations of global trade - immense challenges, requiring them to constantly strive to apply new methods in customs management. One of the methods demonstrating clear effectiveness for many customs administrations globally, including Korea Customs Service, is the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data analysis.
Accordingly, with the theme of “the Next wave of Customs – AI, People Intelligent Deccision”, this year's Conference dedicated significant time for countries to share experiences in applying AI, analyzing and exploiting data to serve customs management and enhance risk management effectiveness.
At the Conference, the representative of Viet Nam Customs delivered a presentation on the topic "Viet Nam Customs’ Model for the Management of Exports and Imports transacted via E-commerce platforms”. The presentation focused on sharing the context of e-commerce development in Viet Nam, new requirements for customs management; legal frameworks; and the data processing, procedures, supervision, and risk management models that Viet Nam is in the process of development.

Through participating in the conference, Viet Nam Customs continues to demonstrate its proactiveness in strengthening international cooperation, actively participating in multilateral professional forums, while taking advantage of the experiences in technological application of advanced customs administrations. This is also an important opportunity for Viet Nam Customs to continue researching, applying AI, effectively exploiting data, and innovating management methods to meet the requirements of digital transformation, customs modernization, and trade facilitation in the context of overwhelming development of international trade.
