Joint Circular 58/2015/TTLT-BYT-BTNMT promulgates the provisions on the management of biomedical wastes, specifying the collection, classification, storage and treatment of hazardous and non-hazardous biomedical wastes; the documents and reporting of biomedical waste management; and responsibilities of relevant agencies and units.

The management of wastes generated from the burial and cremation, and radioactive waste generated from medical activities shall be not governed by this Joint Circular.

The Joint Circular is applicable to domestic and overseas agencies, organizations and individuals with activities involved in biomedical waste in the territory of Vietnam.

Enclosed with this Joint Circular are annexes as follows:

- Annex 01: List and codes of biomedical waste

- Annex 02: Symbols displayed on biomedical waste storage packages, devices and equipment

- Annex 03: Technical requirements on biomedical waste storage areas in medical establishments.

This Joint Circular takes effect from April 1, 2016 and invalidates Decision No. 43/2007/QD-BYT dated November 30, 2007 promulgating regulations on biomedical waste management.
