Seminar promotes formal trade of Vietnamese agricultural products to China

Deputy Head of the Trade Promotion Agency, under Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, Doan Thi Thu Thuy, said that the event aimed to update the latest information on the trade between Vietnam and China and support Vietnamese enterprises to overcome technical and trade barriers.

The seminar also discuss the obstacles in building and protecting exported products to the Chinese market in order to enhance the formal trade of potential goods from Vietnam.

In recent years, thanks to strong export growth, the trade gap between the two countries has been significantly reduced, with the trade deficit decreasing from over US$28 billion in 2016 to US$22.765 billion in 2017.

According to statistics, the Vietnam - China total import-export turnover reached US$97.25 by the end of November, a year-on-year increase of 16.07%.

Dao Viet Anh, Trade Counsellor at the Vietnamese Embassy in China, said agricultural, forestry and fishery products are Vietnam's strength, particularly frozen shrimp, tra fish, crab and octopus.

At the seminar, experts recommended that enterprises should improve their capacity and raise awareness in grasping the technical regulations and SPS requirements of China in order to build strategies to promote their products to this market.
