Tariff quotas for raw tobacco imports in 2019
On December 26, 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Circular 55/2018/TT-BCT stipulating the import of raw tobacco according to the tariff rate of 2019.
Accordingly, the amount of raw tobacco (with HS code of 2401) in the 2019 tariff quota is 56,284 tons (an increase of 2.68 tons compared to 2018).
Traders with permits for cigarette production, wishing to use imported tobacco raw materials for cigarette production shall be considered for granting permits for import of raw tobacco according to tariff quotas.
Ministry of Industry and Trade is responsible for:
- Determining the time limit for the allocation of tariff quotas to import raw tobacco for traders in need.
- Based on the volume of tariff quotas on raw tobacco imports in 2019 and the registration of traders to consider granting permits for import of raw tobacco according to tariff quotas for traders.
Circular 55/2018/TT-BCT takes effect from February 19, 2019 to the end of December 31, 2019.
