Registration

If you are an exporter wishing to export commercial goods from Viet Nam you should follow the procedures here.

Prohibited Export Items

Before exporting goods from Viet Nam you should ensure that they do not fall into the category of prohibited goods. Prohibited goods cannot be exported, transited, sold or circulated in Viet Nam. Among prohibited goods are weapons, narcotics, psychotropic substances and hazardous chemical substances. You should refer to the specific laws and regulations that cover these prohibitions. If in doubt you should seek advice from your local GDVC BranchClick here to see the list of goods prohibited from export.

Licensing under Specialized Inspection of Goods

Before you export goods from Vietnam you should check  whether your goods require licensing under a specialized inspection regime or not. If yes, you have to submit document for licensing or certification then you can submit an e-Declaration. Click here to see the list of goods under licensing and specialized inspection requirements.

Export Licenses

For certain types of products it is necessary to obtain an export license from the appropriate Ministry(ies). Depending on the product, the license can be either automatic (via NSW) or non-automatic (manual procedure). If a product is not subject to licensing but to specific sanitary/phyto-sanitary or technical measures, you can proceed with the exportation of the product by submitting a declaration directly to Customs first then you have to present to Customs the certificate of sanitary/phyto-sanitary or technical measures before clearance.

Customs Brokers

You may engage a Customs Broker to carry out export formalities on your behalf. For information pertaining to brokers please click here

Temporary Exports

Goods can be exported under the Temporary Exports regime under the following circumstances:

  • Goods necessary for the manufacture, processing, assembly, transformation or repair of items which will subsequently be re-imported (“outward processing”)
  • Vehicles exported for the purpose of project supervision or for tourism or business visits as long as they are re-imported by the allotted time
  • Materials required for project supervision purposes
  • Exhibition, educational or scientific materials.

For these types of exports you must submit a declaration under the Temporary Exports regime. No duties are payable on these imports.

In all of the above cases certain documents or permits must be obtained from the relevant authority and presented to GDVC. Before exporting goods under this regime please contact your local branch of GDVC to obtain advice as to what documentation will be required for your specific circumstances.

Please visit the GDVC’s website to see a list of goods eligible for these exemptions. Please contact GDVC to find out what is required to take advantage of these exemptions.
