The Department of Viet Nam Customs worked with Alibaba Group: promoting cooperation in cross-border e-commerce

On July 16, 2026, the Department of Viet Nam Customs held a meeting with a delegation of Alibaba Group to discuss solutions for strengthening cooperation in cross-border e-commerce, facilitating trade, and improving customs management efficiency.

During the meeting, representatives of Alibaba Group highly appreciated Viet Nam Customs' reform efforts and introduced the Group's e-commerce ecosystem, including the Lazada platform operating in Viet Nam. Alibaba stated that it will continue to cooperate with Lazada and relevant partners to promote the development of cross-border e-commerce, support businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), expand markets, and enhance their capacity to participate in global supply chains. Alibaba is currently the parent company of Lazada after completing the investment and integration of this platform into its ecosystem.

Representatives of Alibaba Group shared their experience in coordinating with the Chinese Customs Administration in managing and facilitating cross-border e-commerce activities, and exchanged some information and practical experiences that can be used to improve the e-commerce management mechanism in Viet Nam.

The meeting contributed to strengthening understanding between the Department of Viet Nam Customs and Alibaba Group, creating a foundation for exploring future cooperation opportunities, aiming to both facilitate the development of e-commerce and improve the efficiency of state management in customs.
